ARTHUR (ACE) LIPTON
PRINCIPAL ATTORNEY
Ace Lipton, our principal attorney, has been practicing law in San Francisco since 1978. Originally from Hackensack, New Jersey, Ace is a graduate of Cal-State Hayward and the University of California’s Hastings College of the Law. His practice emphasizes representation of restaurants and bars (sale of business, Alcoholic Beverage Control problems, commercial leases), Criminal Defense (DUIs, drug cases, assaults).
Ace has been an owner of small bars and restaurants. He understands how obnoxious and difficult the legal system seems to local bar and restaurant operators. His practice is sensitive to the concerns of the everyday person who is often unable to afford justice. So, he strives to control litigation costs and fees, to keep the cure from becoming worse than the disease.
A long-time player with the Hastings Rugby Club, his current spare time diversions center on the SF Giants and his work as a part-time minister of The Interfaith Circle, promoting Inter-religious understanding and ministering to the spiritually disenfranchised.

With a background spanning marketing, process optimization, and team coordination, she plays a key role in modernizing workflows and strengthening the firm’s public presence. Originally from Caracas, Venezuela, she immigrated to the United States in 2018 and brings a global perspective to her work.

Nelson provides advanced litigation technology support, case organization, and the creation of high-impact demonstrative evidence. With over a decade of experience in the legal industry, he has played a key role in significantly increasing client settlement outcomes through sophisticated, visually compelling presentations of injuries, medical treatment, and incident reenactments.

DENNIS RYAN
Denis Ryan holds a Master’s degree from Ireland and a Paralegal Certificate from San Francisco State University. He is known for strong attention to detail and a practical, service-oriented approach. His focus areas include discovery, pleadings, and matters involving negligence and contract law.

DAN BALOUGH
Dan Balough (Major General, U.S. Army, Ret.) serves as Of Counsel to the Lipton Law Office. He is President of DCBC, LLC, a service-disabled veteran-owned firm providing strategic and transactional guidance in the federal defense sector, and a Senior Advisor for Government Affairs at Delphi Technology Corp., an AI training startup. He has advised multiple technology startups and brings over 50 years of legal and executive experience, including private practice, more than a decade as staff counsel at Chevron, and senior leadership roles with an IT defense contractor. A 35-year Army veteran, Dan is a decorated Vietnam combat infantryman and former Commanding General of the 91st “Wild West” Division. He holds a BS from West Point, an MBA from UC Berkeley Haas, and a JD from UC Law San Francisco.

AUDREY A. SMITH
Audrey Smith is an attorney with extensive experience in complex litigation and trial work. She began her legal career working with Ace Lipton and is pleased to return to the firm as Of Counsel. Over 15 years in private practice, she served as an associate at Brayton & Associates and The Cartwright Law Firm, and later as a partner at Wartnick Chaber Harowitz Smith & Tigerman, representing plaintiffs in complex personal injury matters.
Ms. Smith has tried 30 jury trials to verdict as lead counsel and has handled numerous civil and criminal trials and arbitrations. She also serves as a certified mediator and neutral arbitrator.

Jennifer Noryko
Jennifer graduated New College of the Law in 2007, she began work with the San Francisco Public Defender office as a trial attorney where she was lead attorney for 18 jury trials, mostly acquittals, she is a graduate from Gerry Spence Trial Lawyers College and it's psycho-drama program in Wyoming, She has been adjunct faculty for the Trial Skills Clinic at Boalt Hall School of Law, U.C Berkeley, to add to her accomplishments, Jen is fluent in Spanish.

PATRICK THAN
Patrick is a 1990 graduate of New College of The Law, he worked briefly at the Cartwright office before joining the Lipton Law Office as an associate. He became a partner at Lipton and Than in 1995. In 1998 he moved to Myanmar (formerly Burma) to pursue family interests. He returned to his home town Salinas, CA in 2001, and since that time has remained a solo practitioner of the law. He is an excellent golfer.
